Arc is the Intelligent Activation Agency. There’s no better way to illustrate this than to create a Tumblr site that showcases all of the innovation, new ideas and beautiful displays to be found at GlobalShop, the world's largest retail design and shopper marketing event, in Las Vegas.

In addition to the site, Nick Jones, EVP, Innovation & Growth for Arc North America, also presented "Must-See Innovations" to a sold-out Global Shop crowd. His presentation content is woven into the site as well.

Leo Burnett Sydney made waves with its campaign for the new Samsung Gear VR. The innovative virtual reality device uses the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to bring this immersive technology to the public.

To demonstrate the power of this new technology, Leo Burnett and Samsung set up a nautical-themed dive shop in the middle of Australia’s desert and invited visitors to “take a dive.” Customers who sampled the device found themselves in the middle of the ocean with a 360-degree view of the sharks swimming all around — and sometimes directly at — them, including a view from the wrong side of a shark’s mouth. Customers were surprised and delighted to discover that their short trip into the deep was powered by a phone not unlike their own, “but better.”

In the ad world, a copywriter might want to become a writer, an art director might want to try a career as a multimedia artist and a strategic planner might want to explore their creative potential. Other times, employees want to do something outside of their daily routine that will, in the end, benefit their work. Recognizing these broad aspirations, Leo Burnett Russia launched Star Maps.

The Star Map itself began as a simple document designed to guide employees to their personal goals. The first 30 employees who completed their Star Maps were invited to take educational courses of their choosing.

“The gift of storytelling is one of the most powerful skills, especially for people who work in advertising,” said Yulia Samoylenko, Star Maps graduate and copywriter. “That’s why I took ‘Improvisational Storytelling.’ I learned not only how to make the audience laugh or cry, but also how to inspire people. The lessons also helped me improve my public-speaking skills.”

“I was always very interested in photography’s ability to permanently capture a moment of real life and a time period’s symbols and aesthetics in one single frame,” said Ekaterina Kruchkova, another Star Maps gradate and junior producer. “So, it was my dream to take classes at Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography — one of the best schools in Russia — and Leo Burnett’s Star Map Program made it come true.”

Following completion of the coursework, the graduates were placed as “stars” on a map in a conference room. People who took similar courses were gathered into constellations, and in the end, there was a wide galaxy covering everything from a Constellation of Suspense for those who passed courses in storytelling to a Constellation of Network Savvies for those focused in digital. There was even a Constellation of Record Producers.
